Abstract

The Study Antimicrobial Efficacy of Selected Plant Extract, Alchornea Cordiforlia against Acinetobacter Baumanni and Klebsiella Pneumonia associated with hospital related infections investigates the antimicrobial efficacy of Alchornea Cordiforlia leaf extracts against Acinetobactor baumannii and Klebsiella pneumonia, pathogens responsible for hospitalacquired infections. Methanol extracts demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity, with the inhibitory value of Klebsiella pneumonia of 28mm at 50mg/ml and Acinetobactor baumannii of 19mm at 50mg/ml respectively. MIC values ranging from 11mm28mm. The methanol extract exhibited higher activity against Acinetobacter Baumannii (MIC: 12.5mg/ml. MBC: 25mg/ml) and against Klebsiella Pneumonia (MIC:25mg/ml. MBC:12.5mg/ml). These findings suggest Alchornea Cordiforlia extracts have potentials as natural antimicrobial agents against multiresistant bacteria, warranting further research to optimize extraction methods, elucidate bioactive compounds, and evaluate in vivo efficacy. The discovery of novel antimicrobial agents from plants sources could address the growing concern of antibiotic resistance, providing alternative therapeutic options for healthcare settings.
