DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ROAD TRANSPORT BOOKING SYSTEM
Abstract
We now live in a world were technology is advancing rapidly. Transactions and day to day activities are now going digital because it is easy, secure and very effective. In Nigeria, transport companies and garage still rely on manual ticket of transportation which involves the use of pen and paper to sell ticket and book seats for passengers.
This project presents an implementation of an application program; Road Transport Booking System that would be used for interstate bus reservation and booking online. This system enables both driver and passengers’ book rides conveniently from any location within Osun state.
In order to achieve this design, Osun state was chosen as the case study because of the high reliance of manual ticketing system. Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology (SSAD) was adopted. In addition, PHP Hypertext Pre-processor (PHP) language was used for the front-end design of the software while data storage was done using MySQL.
The software achieved its capability in improving the customer relationship within the company. It is recommended that despite the present functionality of the designed software, an additional functionality such as the use of E-mail to send tickets and notifications to the customer.
