Abstract

ABSTRACT Thisprojectfocusesonthedesignandconstructionofadigitalclockintegratedwithtemperatureandhumiditymonitoringcapabilities,utilizingaPICmicrocontrollerasthecorecomponent.ThedigitalclockisengineeredtodisplayaccuratetimeonaSeven-SegmentorLCDdisplay,whilesimultaneouslymeasuringanddisplayingreal-timeenvironmentaldata,suchastemperatureandhumidity,throughsensorsliketheDHT11orDHT22.AReal-TimeClock(RTC)module,specificallytheDS3231,isemployedtomaintainprecisetimekeeping,evenintheeventofpoweroutages,thankstoitsbuilt-inbatterybackup.Thesystem'smicrocontroller,thePIC16F877A,isresponsibleformanagingtheRTC,processingsensordata,andcontrollingthedisplayunits.Indesignsrequiringexpandedfunctionality,asecondarymicrocontroller,thePIC16F72,isusedtohandleadditionalI/Ooperations,ensuringsynchronizedandefficientperformanceacrossallcomponents.Theintegrationofthesefeaturesintoasingledeviceoffersacompact,reliable,andcost-effectivesolutionforapplicationsrequiringbothtimekeepingandenvironmentalmonitoring.Thisprojectnotonlyhighlightstheversatilityofmicrocontrollersinembeddedsystemdesignbutalsodemonstratesthepracticalbenefitsofcombiningmultiplefunctionsintoasingledevice.Theoutcomeisarobust,multifunctionaldigitalclockthatiswell-suitedforuseinvariousenvironments,fromsmarthomestoindustrialsettings,wherebothtimeandclimatedataarecritical.Theprojectconcludeswithrecommendationsforfurtherenhancements,includingtheintegrationofwirelesscommunication,poweroptimization,anduserinterfaceimprovements,tobroadenthedevice'sapplicabilityandimproveuserexperience.
