Abstract

This project focused on monitoring the deformation of the newly constructed auditorium building at the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo. The primary objective was to detect, measure, and analyze any structural movements using precise geodetic techniques, including Total Station, Digital Level, and GNSS observations. A geodetic control network was established around the structure, and measurements were conducted at two separate epochs. The acquired data were processed and analyzed using Leica Infinity, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel for coordinate adjustment and displacement computation. The findings revealed minor horizontal and vertical displacements, all within acceptable engineering tolerances. Although slight structural instability was observed, the building is not currently at risk. The study concludes that continuous deformation monitoring and proactive maintenance are vital to ensuring the long-term safety and structural integrity of the auditorium, The building height having 36.6480m, the calculated area the new auditorium building covers is 857.5101 metre square (m2).
