PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION OF SOIL FROM ATASUK AREAS OF EASTERN OBOLO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA AKWA IBOM STATE NIGERIA
Abstract
Abstract
Particles size distribution of soil in Atasuk area of Eastern Obolo is yielding information and different particles Size present in the area. This result is achieved after the following objective such as sieving analysis and sedimentation of grain size. With this objective the effective range of each sample is what determines the soil grade. Where the soil grade for Atasuk area is poorly graded but the ratio varies as point increases. The classification of soil is recommended for sub-grade material and highly recommended for coastal embankment where this classification of soil grade is used in filling Geosythentic sack and stack. Engineer lookout in getting best material to be used in forming a subbase, subgrade and even foundations for roads, bridges, and platforms where the Christmas tree is mounted on before drilling. Without the geometry gotten and selection, the random usage of soil will bring to future deformity and damages from the foundation of the construction as activities is going on, on the surface. The application of correct geometry of soil will be an advantage as the environment is checked and because of this, particle size distribution will bring forth the actual soil grade that would be preferred in making the best result and determine the sustainability of any proposed engineering construction.
