THE EFFECTS OF PARTIALLY REPLACING CEMENT WITH A COMBINATION OF ANTHILL SOIL AND CLAY BRICK POWDER IN CONCRETE PRODUCTION
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Materials are the most important component of building construction. The demands of construction material are increasing day by day significantly. In buildings, cement is the material that is widely used, even though it is releases carbon dioxide (estimated about 7 to 10% of the worldwide production of carbon dioxide CO2). There is therefore a need to look for new materials that are more environmental friendly. This study aimed to investigate the suitability of using anthill soil and burnt clay brick powder as a partial replacement of cement in concrete. Anthill soil and burnt clay brick powder were replaced in concrete using equal proportions at replacements of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 30%. Experimental results showed that there was a marginal strength gain in concrete with a 10 percent partial replacement of cement with a combination of anthill soil and clay bricks powder in concrete production.
