DEVELOPMENT OF CAMPUS-BASED CRIME LOGGING AND REPORTING APP FOR EDO STATE UNIVERSITY IYHAMO
Abstract
This project details the development of a crime logging and reporting application specifically designed for Edo State University, Iyamho, aimed at enhancing campus safety through secure and real-time digital reporting system. Leveraging HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the frontend and Firebase for backend services such as authentication and database management, the system enables students and staff to efficiently report, view and manage incident data within the university environment. Implementation addressed challenges in data synchronization, form validation and cross-device responsiveness through strategic use of Firebase listeners, robust validation logic as well as adaptive design techniques. Comprehensive manual testing and traceability matrix suggest full requirement coverage while the use of user-friendly guide facilitates seamless adoption by prospective end-users. The project demonstrates a successful application of modern web technologies in solving real-world problems by offering a scalable framework for future campus safety solutions.
