Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines Computer Centres and the Challenges of Project Documentation among Students of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara. The research aims to identify the difficulties students encounter when using computer centres for project documentation and to assess how these challenges affect the quality and timely completion of their academic projects. Data were gathered from students across various departments through questionnaires and interviews. The findings reveal that major challenges include inadequate computer systems, frequent power outages, lack of skilled operators, high service charges, poor internet connectivity, and overcrowding at computer centres, especially during peak academic periods. These factors contribute to delays, errors in formatting, and reduced efficiency in project preparation. The study concludes that despite the vital role computer centres play in assisting students with project typing, editing, and printing, several infrastructural and management problems hinder their effectiveness. It recommends that the institution should establish well-equipped ICT centres with reliable power supply and qualified personnel to support students in project documentation. Additionally, students should be encouraged to acquire basic computer literacy skills to reduce overdependence on external computer centres.
