DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A HOSTEL FAULT REPORTING SYSTEM FOR EDO STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Abstract
Abstract
This project, titled "Design and Implementation of a Hostel Fault Reporting System for Edo State University Students," aims to streamline the process of reporting and managing faults within university hostels. The current manual system is often inefficient, leading to delays in fault resolution and dissatisfaction among students. The proposed system leverages web technologies to provide a robust platform where students can easily report faults related to their hostel accommodations. Developed using Java Server Pages (JSP), HTML, CSS, and MySQL, this system allows students to report issues such as plumbing problems, electrical faults, and structural damages by submitting a detailed description and uploading relevant images. The system includes user authentication mechanisms, allowing students to register, log in, and track the status of their reported faults. An admin interface is provided for hostel management to review, approve, or reject fault reports, ensuring prompt and efficient resolution of issues. The project encompasses several key features: a user-friendly interface for fault reporting, an administrative dashboard for managing and monitoring reported faults, and a secure database to store and manage user and fault data. The system aims to enhance communication between students and hostel management, reduce the time required to address reported issues, and ultimately improve the living conditions within university hostels. By implementing this system, Edo State University can ensure a more responsive and organized approach to handling hostel maintenance issues, thereby improving student satisfaction and fostering a better living environment on campus.
