Abstract

This work studied "The effect of Particles Sizes on oil yield from avocado seed" seed within the nut of avocado pear fruit. This research project was aimed at extraction of avocado seed oil using different particles sizes (BSS 52 AND BSS 8) and comparing their yields also characterization of the extracted oil based on physiochemical properties. The avocado pear was first cracked to get the seed then washed and crushed before drying for 4hr 20mins using electrothermal oven MODEL DHG to reduce moisture content and weight of 303.7g was gotten after drying and was sieve to different perticles sizes using electric vibration sieve machine MODEL 8411 which sieve sizes of BSS 52 with weight of 171.0g and BSS 8 with weight of 101.4g was gotten 100g of different particles sizes weight was measure into two muslin bag then extracted with 300ml of Ethanol, and N-hexane using sohxlet apparatus. Extracted oil plus solvent was further distilled using distillation column apparatus to get 36.5% of oil extracted with N-hexane, 15.4% oil extracted with Ethanol. Characterization of the oil extracted with Ethanol and N-hexane to get their Acid value was carried out.
