Abstract

This research revolves around examining the vitamin content found in bananas. The bananas utilized for this analysis were obtained ripe from a local vendor in New Market,Enugu State. The banana sample was peeled and then blended into a slurry using a mortar. After adding 50 ml of distilled water and stirring, the mixture was filtered to produce an extract for determining the vitamin composition. The results indicate significant levels of various vitamins in bananas, such as Vitamin A (0.063mg/L),Vitamin B1 (thiamine) at 0.755 mg/L, Vitamin 82 (riboflavin) at 0.0196 mg/L,Vitamin B3 (niacin) at 0.0662 mg/L, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) at 0.0198 mg/L,and Vitamin E at 0.0255 ma/L. The substantial presence of Vitamin 81, coupled with moderate amnounts of Vitamins A, C, and E, underscores the essential nutrients in bananas that support energy metabolism, immune function, and antioxidant protection. Based on these results, ripe bananas warrant further investigation in dinical and nutritional studies to unveil potential nutritional elements, including minerals and other medicinal components.
