ETHANOLIC EXTRACTION AND MARCONUTRIENTS ANALYSIS OF BRYOPHYLLUM PINNATUM LEAF EXTRACT.
Abstract
Bryophyllum pinnatum, commonly known as the life plant, has long been recognized for its medicinal and nutritional properties. This study focused on the ethanolic extraction and macronutrient analysis of Bryophyllum pinnatum leaf extract to evaluate its potential use in pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. The macronutrient composition was analyzed, revealing significant levels of carbohydrates (43.993%) and proteins (26.60%), which indicate its value as an energy source and protein-rich supplement. Additionally, the moisture content (17.140%), ash content (6.820%), fats (2.969%), and fiber (2.478%) were determined, highlighting its balanced nutrient profile. The ethanolic extraction method was employed to isolate bioactive compounds, demonstrating the efficiency of this extraction technique in maximizing the yield of phytochemicals. These findings suggest that Bryophyllum pinnatum holds promise for use in both traditional and modern health applications, particularly in the development of functional foods and dietary supplements. The study provides a foundation for further research into optimizing extraction techniques and exploring its therapeutic potential in clinical settings.
