EFFECTS OF NEGELLA SATIVA (KALONJT) EXTRACT ON STREPTOZOTOCIN INDUCED DIABETES ON THE KIDNEY PATHOLOGY OF NORMAL ALBINO RATS
Abstract
Kidney histology in streptozotocin-induced diabetic male Wistar rats treated with extract of Negella sativa. Complications that occurred in patients with Diabetes Mellitus are usually followed by kidney damage. Negella sativa was traditionally used to decrease blood glucose . Thus, they were potential as antidiabetic drugs. This study aimed to evaluate the ethanol p\u-act of Negella sativa (Kalonji) in repairing kidney damage.in diabetic albino rats induced b\ streptozotocin (STZ). An experimental method using a completely randomized design that bonmst of treatments with three replications. The treatment groups was injected mtrapentoneally with a dose of 60 mg/kg BW STZ, and the other group served as a control. }111e animals which have blood glucose level >200 mg/dl were stated as diabetic. The animals ?nrere treated with extract of Negella sativa and contrél The results showed that extract Ireatment repaired the kidney histology, i.e., glomerular diameter and Bowman space width, ns well as sngmficantly decreased the necrosis percentage of proximal tubular in diabetic rat g;ompamd with control group at (p
