Abstract

This project presents the design and implementation of an IOT-based smart Water Quality Monitoring System aimed at providing an efficient, cost-effective, and scalable solution for continuous water quality assessment. The system integrates various sensors to measure key parameters such as pH, temperature, turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) sensor and electrical conductivity (EC). These sensors are interfaced with an ESP32 microcontroller unit, which processes the data and transmits it wirelessly to the Blynk cloud platform via Wi- Fi for remote monitoring. A 16x2 LCD, status LEDs, and an alarm buzzer provide immediate local feedback on water safety. The device operates on a 5V DC power supply converted from 220V AC mains, and all components are housed in a protective pattress box. It is developed to provide real-time alerts and historical trends, enabling authorities and stakeholders to make informed decisions. The system was tested using ten different sources of water. The result show that out of this ten, four were acidic and three showed a high value of alkalinity, and three were suitable for drinking. The results I obtained after testing multiple water sources showed clear distinctions between safe and unsafe water sources, highlighting its effectiveness in real-time environmental monitoring. The solution is low-cost, scalable, and suitable for various applications, including household use, agriculture, and water treatment facilities.
