IMPROVEMENT ON DESIGN CONSTRUCTION AND TESTING OF VERTICAL AXIS WIND TURBINE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The industrial advancement of Nigeria is hindered by unsteady, unreliable and insufficient electricity supply. The two major sources of electricity generation in Nigeria are hydro power and thermal power systems. The economic and environmental effects of these two main sources and other challenges posturing the adaptation of other several methods, particularly renewable energy. One of the oldest methods of electricity generation using renewable energy is the wind turbine. Wind turbine is the method of converting kinetic energy (in the wind) to electrical energy. This project designed and constructed a 500W wind turbine. The construction was successful and the output voltage of 110V AC was achieved.
