CHALLENGES FACING THE MEDIA IN DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION ( A CASE STUDY OF NTA GUSAU ZAMFARA STATE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examines the challenges facing the media in disseminating information, using NTA Gusau (Zamfara State) as a case study. The research identifies institutional, technological, socio-political, economic, and audience-related barriers that hinder effective information dissemination. Primary data were collected via questionnaires and interviews with NTA staff and consumers of broadcast content in Gusau. Findings highlight issues such as limited funding, inadequate infrastructure, political interference, low audience trust, and security constraints. The study recommends measures including capacity building, improved funding, infrastructural upgrades, editorial independence safeguards, and audience engagement strategies to enhance the media's effectiveness.
