A REPORT ON THE GEOLOGICAL FIELD MAPPING OF ERINFUN AND ITS ENVIRONS IN ADO-EKITI, SOUTH-WESTERN NIGERIA.
Abstract
The geological field mapping of Erinfun and its environs, located within the Basement Complex of
southwestern Nigeria, was conducted to explore and document the area's diverse geological features.
This study focused on identifying the major rock types, structural elements, and mineral
compositions characteristic of the region. The area is primarily composed of Precambrian rocks,
including granites, migmatites, gneisses, and schists, which are indicative of a complex geological
history involving multiple phases of metamorphism, igneous intrusion, and tectonic activity.
Through systematic field observations, sample collection, and subsequent laboratory analysis,
significant geological features such as fault lines, mineral deposits, and distinct rock textures were
identified. The results of this study provide valuable insights that can contribute to academic
research, inform environmental management, and guide sustainable land use planning in the region.
These findings not only enhance the understanding of the local geology but also highlight the
region's potential for mineral resource exploration.
