ANTI MICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF DOUM PALM (HYPHAENE THEBAICA) EXTRACT AGAINST SPECIFIC BACTERIA
Abstract
Abstract
The increasing resistance of fungi to conventional antifungal agents necessitates the exploration
of novel antimicrobial compounds from natural sources. This study investigated the antimicrobial activity of Doum Palm(Hyphaene Thebaica)extract against specific fungi Candida Albicans The extract was obtained using solvent (ethanol, methanol and water) and characterized using phytochemical tests and GC-MS analysis. Antimicrobial assays revealed significant inhibitory activity against the targeted fungi, with MIC values ranging from 0.5-2.5 mg/mL. The results suggest that Doum Palm extract contains bioactive compounds with potential antifungal properties, warranting further investigation for development as alternative antifungal agents. This study contributes to the discovery of new antimicrobial
agents from natural sources, providing a promising approach to addressing the growing concerns a n t i f u n g a l r e s i s t a n c e
