DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN AUTOMATIC CHANGE OVER SWITCH WITH GENERATOR TRIP OFF AND STARTER
Abstract
Abstract
Unstable public power supply has necessitated the use of standby generators in homes, institutions, and industries. Manual changeover systems are often inefficient, unsafe, and inconvenient. This study presents the design and construction of an automatic changeover switch (ATS) integrated with a generator auto-start and trip-off mechanism. The system automatically transfers electrical load between the public utility supply and a standby generator without human intervention. Key components include contactors, relays, a control circuit, and a generator starter interface. Performance evaluation showed seamless power transfer, improved safety, and enhanced reliability. The developed system reduces downtime, prevents equipment damage, and improves user convenience.
