Abstract

Examination has been generally accepted as the best means of assessment all over the world and it takes different forms and different names in different countries. Some foreign countries refer to it as test, some refers to it as assessment while most African countries refers to it as examination. It is a formal way of evaluating the quantity of knowledge a student has acquired within a period of time. Teaching and learning become more effective when the students are placed on examination to determine the level of their knowledge about what they have been taught based on the curriculum and the lecturer or teacher can also assess him/herself from the students’ performance. Examination is used to determine if the students pass or fail, qualified or disqualified for the higher level of curriculum instruction, or can be certified as a professional in a particular field of study
