Abstract

ABSTRACT The fault detection in over head transmission lines using vibration sensor is one of the crucial task in electrical power system. This research work express the reliability and safety of over head transmission lines for efficient delivery of electricity. Traditional methods of fault detection often involve manual inspections or complex electrical measurements, which can be time-consuming and prone to inaccuracies. This project explores the use of vibration sensors as an innovative solution for fault detection in overhead transmission lines. Vibration sensors, strategically installed along the transmission lines, continuously monitor physical vibrations, providing real-time data on the structural integrity of the lines. By analyzing this data through advanced signal processing techniques and machine learning algorithms, faults such as line breaks, sagging, and external impacts can be detected and classified with high precision. The proposed method offers several advantages, including early fault detection, reduced downtime, and improved maintenance scheduling. Challenges such as environmental influences on vibration patterns, sensor calibration are addressed to enhance the reliability of the system. The study uses MATLAB simulation to demonstrates that vibration-based fault detection is a reliable and effective approach to ensuring the continuous and safe operation of overhead transmission line.
