THE ROLE OF EFFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION ON ORGANIZATIONAL EFFICIENCY: A CASE STUDY OF BAUCHI STATE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BOARD (2019 – 2023)

This research examined the role of effective administration on organizational efficiency: a case study of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (2019 – 2023). It has been observed that SUBEB has for long been faced with many crises ranging from conflict between staff unions and the organizations management, staff unions and the government which particularly appears more frequent than the former. The major causes of conflict between staff unions and management in these organizations especially Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board cannot be unconnected with expansion and inadequate resources both financial and material in carrying out its functions. Mary Parker Follett conflict management strategy was used to guide the research assumption. The researcher used survey design, employed quantitative techniques in which structured questions were used to collect information from the respondents. Random sampling technique was used to select 150 respondents out of the total population of Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board. Equally, simple percentage and frequency tables were used to analyse the data obtained. The results indicated that competition over limited resources, work inter-dependency, that poor communication and miscommunication, perceived breach of faith and trust between individual employees and that preference of employers or employees causes organizational conflict in Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board. It was recommended that government and other international world bodies that grants aids to research institutes in the country should be encouraged to provide adequate resources of whatever type to the organizations in order to ameliorate the rates at which the organization engages in industrial conflicts. Though, some of these international bodies like the World Bank and others have contributed in the past in financing viable projects like the Jatropha Bio-Diesel project in Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board but more need to be done by them in order to promote more development in the organizations and the nation at large. The government should also settle all entitlements and allowance owed in order for staff to be motivated enough to put in their best in the workplace which will reduce conflict and definitely increase performance at all levels in the organizations.
