PROTECTIVE EFFECT OF CRUDE EXTRACT OF ALLIUM CEPA ON THE FALLOPIAN TUBE OF ADULT FEMALE WISTAR RATS FOLLOWING MANGANESE TOXICITY.
Abstract
The present study investigates the protective effects of allium cepa extract on the hippocampus and the body weight of female wistar rats. Twenty four (24) adult female wistar rats were divided into four (4) groups; control, Mn only, Mn + AC, and Mn + Q groups. The experimental groups received varying doses of manganese once in alternate days for 14 days. Group 2 received 25mg/kg of Mn only, group 3 received 25mg/kg of Mn with 1ml of Allium cepa, group 4 received 25mg/kg of Mn with 10mg/kg of Quercetin, and group 1 served as the control, receiving only food and water daily. This administration lasted for 2 weeks. At the end of the study, fallopian tubes samples were collected for histological examination.
