EFFECT OF SOIL ACIDITY ON CROP PRODUCTION (SOIL PH) IN DAMBATTA THOMAS IRRIGATION AREA
Abstract
The study focused on the effect of soil acidity on crop production (soil pH) in the Dambatta Thomas Irrigation Area. Four different farms were selected and analyzed for soil acidity. Findings revealed that most of the farms exhibited high levels of soil acidity, which negatively impacted crop yields. The major cause of this issue was linked to the farmers’ lack of knowledge on the proper application of artificial fertilizers. The study recommends that farmers should be trained on soil management practices, including the correct use of fertilizers, to improve soil health and boost crop production.
