THE IMPACT OF AGRICULTURAL POLICIES ON FOOD PRODUCTION IN DAWAKIN KUDU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KANO STATE
Abstract
This study examined the impact of agricultural policies on food production in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, Kano State. A descriptive survey design was adopted, using a sample of 200 farmers selected through multi-stage sampling. Data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using frequency counts and percentages. Findings revealed that while policies like the Anchor Borrowers Program and Fertilizer Subsidies are well-known, implementation is hindered by late input delivery and poor extension-to-farmer ratios. The study recommends the decentralization of input distribution to the ward level.
