Aliyu Abdullahi · BSc · Bsc computer science

ABSTRACT<br><br> This research work generally summarizes the activities carried out in the design and implementation of the Web-based charity management system. This charity management is a non-profit organizational system in which non-governmental organisations and donors can come in and request and donate funds and materials such as cloths, hospital equipment, etc. These objectives are creating online payment, creating login and register page, appointment booking, allowing users to cancel appointments and even letting them go through the funding and other donation system. The project’s design was then constructed to visualize the attainment of these aims using Unified Modeling Language diagrams, Entity Relationship diagram, as well as Data Flow Diagram. In the implementation part of this project, the methodology was used for the development of this project. Also, visual studio Professional 2015 was used as an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), developed using HTML, CSS, PHP and JAVASCRIPT programming language. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF ORGANISATIONAL DECISION MAKING (A CASE STUDY OF A STUDY OF UBA, ILORIN, KWARA STATE
Jennifer Patrick Odapu · BSc · Business Administration

ABSTRACT<br><br> As organizations adapt to rapid technological advancements, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a crucial tool for enhancing decision-making effectiveness. In the dynamic banking sector, institutions like United Bank for Africa (UBA), Ilorin, are increasingly integrating AI technologies such as machine learning, predictive analytics, and natural language processing to optimize decision-making processes. However, the extent of AI adoption and its impact on employee participation in decision-making remains underexplored, particularly in the Nigerian context. This study, therefore, investigates the influence of AI on organizational decision-making effectiveness in UBA, Ilorin. The specific objectives of this study were to: (i) determine the extent to which automated decision technologies are integrated into UBA’s decision-making processes; (ii) assess the impact of AI on employee participation in decision-making; and (iii) examine organizational factors (e.g., leadership style, communication flow, and organizational culture) influencing the relationship between AI and employee involvement. A descriptive survey design was employed, using structured questionnaires administered to 86 staff across five UBA branches in Ilorin. Data were analyzed using regression analysis and statistical hypothesis testing. The findings of the study were that:<br><br> i. Automated decision technologies are significantly used in UBA’s organizational decision-making processes (β = 0.712, t = 8.965, p < 0.05);<br><br> ii. AI has a significant negative effect on employee participation in decision-making when systems lack transparency (β = –0.315, t = –4.671, p < 0.05);<br><br> iii. Organizational factors significantly moderate the relationship between AI use and employee involvement (β = 0.658, t = 9.123, p < 0.05).<br><br> The study concludes that while AI significantly enhances decision speed and accuracy, its impact on employee participation depends largely on organizational support systems. It recommends that UBA and similar institutions promote inclusive decision-making by ensuring AI systems are transparent, ethical, and complemented by effective leadership and communication structures. Regular training, ethical oversight, and fostering a collaborative AI-human work environment are essential to maximize AI's benefits while minimizing employee resistance.

EFFECT OF NAIRA DEVALUATION ON SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES IN NIGERIA.
Maryam Hassan · HND · banking and finace

This study investigates the effect of Naira devaluation on small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. The persistent depreciation of the Naira against major foreign currencies has had significant implications for the cost of production, importation of raw materials, and overall profitability of businesses. The research adopts a descriptive survey method, collecting data from selected SMEs across various sectors. Findings reveal that Naira devaluation has led to increased operational costs, reduced purchasing power, and constrained access to foreign exchange, which in turn affects the competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs. The study concludes that while devaluation may boost export potential in theory, its negative effects on local businesses outweigh the benefits in the short term. It recommends government intervention through monetary stabilization policies, improved access to credit, and the promotion of local production to cushion the impact of currency fluctuations on SMEs.

ASSESSMENT OF FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE STUDENTS INTEREST AND PARTICIPATION IN BIOLOGY RELATED EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Roheemah Aderonke Lawal · BSc · Education and Biology

This study assessed the factors influencing students' interest and participation in Biology-related extracurricular activities in secondary schools within Ungogo Local Government Area, Kano State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was employed, with data collected from 70 respondents, including students, teachers, and school administrators, using a structured questionnaire. The research addressed four key objectives: identifying factors influencing student interest, exploring the effects of non-participation, examining the roles of schools and educators, and analyzing the impact on academic performance. Findings revealed that students exhibited high interest in Biology-related extracurricular activities, with mean scores ranging from 3.70 to 4.20, and the key influencing factors included teacher encouragement, availability of resources, and engaging teaching methods. Non-participation was found to negatively affect students' perception of Biology concepts and practical knowledge, though some respondents remained neutral on its long-term career impacts. Schools and educators play significant roles in fostering participation, with institutional support and parental involvement being critical drivers. Socioeconomic factors also influenced access to extracurricular opportunities. The study concluded that while intrinsic motivation is important, extrinsic factors such as teacher support, resource availability, and parental encouragement significantly enhance participation. Recommendations include strengthening teacher engagement, increasing awareness among parents, securing funding for science clubs, and fostering partnerships with external organizations. The findings contribute to educational strategies aimed at improving student engagement in Biology and STEM fields, providing insights for policymakers and educators to enhance extracurricular programming in Kano State and similar contexts.
