EXPLORING THE USAGE AND PERCEPTION OF CHATGPT FOR COMPREHENSION OF LECTURE NOTES AMONG STUDENTS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS IN KADUNA POLYTECHNIC
Kingsley Moses John · HND · Psycho Social Rehabilitation Science

This study explores the usage and perception of ChatGPT for comprehension of lecture notes among students with hearing impairments in Kaduna Polytechnic. The study was guided by three specific objectives and research questions. The objectives of the study were to: examine how students with hearing impairments use ChatGPT for reading lecture notes; assess their perceptions of ChatGPT in improving comprehension of lecture notes; and identify the challenges they face in using ChatGPT for lecture notes. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population consisted of 23 hearing-impaired students officially enrolled in the Department of Special Education, Kaduna Polytechnic, during the 2023–2025 academic sessions. Due to the small and manageable population size, a purposive census sampling technique was employed, involving all 23 students. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire adapted from validated instruments developed by Meluwu and Neman (2025) for the Perceived Usefulness and Ease of Use scales and Ng, Chan, and Lo (2025) for the Challenges scale. The instruments demonstrated acceptable reliability coefficients with Cronbach’s Alpha values of 0.735 and 0.761, and a Cohen’s kappa coefficient of 0.78. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including frequency counts, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that hearing-impaired students actively use ChatGPT to read, summarize, and clarify lecture notes. Students perceived ChatGPT as an effective and engaging tool that enhances comprehension, motivation, and academic confidence. However, the study also found challenges such as poor internet connectivity and the limitation of ChatGPT in replacing direct teacher explanations. The study concludes that ChatGPT serves as a valuable assistive technology that supports inclusive learning for hearing-impaired students. It recommends that institutions provide reliable internet access, train students in the effective use of AI tools, and integrate ChatGPT into academic activities to enhance learning accessibility and performance.

IMPACT OF DIGITAL MARKETING IN PROMOTING HOSPITALITY SERVICES IN BIDA, NIGER STATE
Victoria Obianuju Okike · HND · Hospitality Management

Digital Marketing in Promoting Hospitality Services in Bida, Niger State. This study employs a mixed-method research design that combines a comprehensive review of literature and a quantitative survey to examine the role of digital marketing in promoting hospitality services in Bida, Niger State. The instrument for data collection is a structured questionnaire administered to 30 respondents, including managers, staff, and customers from selected hospitality establishments, using a 5-point Likert scale. Digital marketing encompasses strategies such as websites, social media, search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, and mobile applications, which are transforming how hospitality businesses attract customers, enhance visibility, and drive revenue. The study explores current trends, challenges, and prospects of digital marketing in the hospitality sector, focusing on its impact on customer engagement, revenue generation, and overall business performance. Analysis of data using descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests reveals significant adoption of social media and websites, with strong positive effects on visibility and bookings. However, challenges such as unstable internet connectivity, financial constraints, and limited technical knowledge hinder effective implementation. The study recommends that hospitality businesses should invest in continuous staff training on digital tools, including SEO, social media management, and email marketing.

Keywords: Digital Marketing, Hospitality Services, Social Media, Customer Engagement, Bida Niger State.

EXAMINATION OF THE LEGAL FRAMEWORK FOR ONLINE DISPUTE RESOLUTION AND CONSUMER PROTECTION IN NIGERIA’S FINTECH INDUSTRY
Winner Uchechukwu Kiwamu · LLB · Law

This study examines the legal and institutional framework governing online dispute resolution (ODR) and consumer protection within Nigeria’s fintech industry, against the background of rapid digital financial innovation and the increasing volume of consumer complaints arising from fintech transactions. The research is motivated by persistent regulatory overlap, weak enforcement, data-protection concerns, infrastructural limitations, and low consumer awareness, all of which undermine trust in digital redress mechanisms. The study aims to assess the
adequacy of Nigeria’s existing legal framework for protecting fintech consumers, evaluate the effectiveness of ODR as a dispute-resolution mechanism, and identify the challenges and prospects associated with its adoption. Key concepts examined include online dispute resolution, financial technology (fintech), consumer rights, and regulatory frameworks. A doctrinal research methodology was adopted, relying on the analysis of statutes, regulations, policy documents, case law, scholarly writings, and international best practices. The findings reveal that while legal instruments such as the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018, the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and relevant regulatory guidelines provide a promising foundation for consumer protection and ODR, their practical effectiveness is constrained by inconsistent enforcement, fragmented
regulatory oversight, infrastructural deficits, and cross-border enforcement challenges. The study recommends regulatory harmonization among relevant agencies, clearer statutory
integration of ODR within fintech regulation, strengthened data-protection enforcement, improved digital infrastructure, and increased public awareness to enhance consumer trust and ensure an effective and accessible digital dispute-resolution ecosystem in Nigeria.

IMPACT OF FACEBOOK USAGE ON THE SOCIAL BEHAVIOR OF STUDENTS IN GOVERNMENT SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL NARAYI, KADUNA
Yusuf Suleiman · HND · Psycho Social Rehabilitation Science

    ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of Facebook usage on the social behavior of students in Government Senior Secondary School Narayi, Kaduna. Two research objectives and research questions guided this study. A descriptive survey design was adopted, with 126 students selected from a population of 420 SS3 students using simple random sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire adapted from Onovo and Okechukwu (2024), with a reliability coefficient of 0.69. Data analysis was carried out using frequency counts and percentages. The findings revealed that Facebook usage among students was high, mainly for social interaction and entertainment such as making new friends (71.4%), keeping in touch with family (67.5%), and posting pictures and videos (61.9%). Academic use was minimal, with only 46.8% using it to discuss school topics. Regarding social behavior, Facebook had both positive and negative effects: 77.8% reported positive life impact, while 48.4% experienced depression. Based on the findings, it was recommended that parents, teachers, and school authorities provide proper guidance on responsible Facebook use, while encouraging students to maximize the platform for academic and developmental purposes.

A PROPOSED EHIME MBANO LOCAL GOVERNMENT HEADQUARTERS
Okenna Ositadimma Ononiwu · BTech · ARCHITECTURE

    ABSTRACT
This project presents the planning and design of the proposed Ehime Mbano Local Government Headquarters, developed to serve as a modern civic complex that enhances governance, administrative efficiency, and community identity. The aim of the project is to provide a sustainable, functional, and people-oriented facility that responds to the socio-cultural and environmental context of Ehime Mbano while aligning with global best practices in civic architecture. The project addresses the pressing problem of inadequate and poorly coordinated administrative infrastructure in the area, which has led to inefficiencies in service delivery, lack of accessibility, and weak integration of cultural and environmental values in public buildings. To resolve these challenges, the study adopted a research methodology that combined both primary and secondary data sources. Primary data were gathered through surveys, site analysis, observations, interviews, and questionnaires, while secondary data came from books, journals, case studies, architects’ consultations, and internet resources. The data were analyzed qualitatively, focusing on spatial requirements, environmental conditions, cultural relevance, and user needs. Findings from stakeholder engagement revealed the demand for a functional, accessible, and environmentally responsive administrative facility. These insights directly informed the spatial programming, circulation patterns, and zoning of the proposed design. The expected outcome is a design strategy that integrates sustainability, cultural identity, and user functionality into a responsive governance infrastructure. The proposal emphasizes functionality, accessibility, sustainability, and cultural integration. It incorporates clearly zoned administrative offices, council chambers, service areas, and public spaces arranged to promote efficiency, transparency, and inclusivity. The architectural form combines rectilinear efficiency with landscaped courtyards, symbolic facades, and modern construction systems. Sustainability measures such as natural ventilation, sun-shading devices, rainwater harvesting, solar energy integration, and landscaping with native vegetation were included to minimize environmental impact. The structural system employs reinforced concrete for stability and steel trusses for large-span spaces, while local materials ensure cultural resonance and cost-effectiveness. The project concludes that the proposed headquarters will serve as both a functional administrative hub and a civic landmark, capable of accommodating approximately 500 daily users, including staff and visitors. It is recommended that the facility incorporate smart governance technologies, sustainable practices, and provisions for future expansion to meet growing administrative demands. By combining modern architectural standards with contextual realities, the proposed Ehime Mbano Local Government Headquarters stands as a model for responsive governance infrastructure in semi-urban Nigeria.

EFFECT OF HILUM POSITION IN THE INVITRO REGENERATION OF MIRACLE BERRY PLANT WITHOUT PLANT GROWTH REGULATOR ( PGRS)
Jessica Onyeka Ehigiator · HND · Microbiology

This study evaluated the hepatic and renal toxicity profile of methanol leaf extract of Phaulopsis silvestris, a medicinal plant widely used in traditional medicine, using Wistar albino rats as experimental models. The increasing reliance on herbal remedies necessitates scientific validation of their safety, particularly regarding vital organs such as the liver and kidneys. A total of twelve male Wistar rats were randomly assigned into four groups, including a control group and three treatment groups administered 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg body weight of the extract respectively for 14 days. Biochemical parameters including liver function markers (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, gamma-glutamyl transferase, and bilirubin) and kidney function markers (urea and creatinine) were analyzed.

The results revealed no statistically significant differences (P < 0.05) in the levels of liver enzymes, bilirubin, urea, and creatinine between treated and control groups. These findings indicate that the methanol extract of Phaulopsis silvestris does not induce acute hepatotoxicity or nephrotoxicity at the tested doses. The study therefore suggests that the plant extract is relatively safe for short-term use. However, further investigations involving sub-chronic and chronic toxicity studies are recommended to establish its long-term safety profile.
